Attitude is a little thing that can make a big difference.
As children we are conditioned to fear ‘failure’. By the time we are adults, it’s firmly entrenched. Subsequently, we do not try ‘new’ things. The attitude you have as you approach something (a task, activity, event etc.) will determine the outcome.
Rather than saying ‘no’ or ‘I can’t’ to something because you are scared of ‘failing’, what if you said ‘yes’? Yes, I will try this or go to that? At worse, it doesn’t work out the way you thought it might; and you have had a learning experience. Or it could set you off in a new direction or create a new passion!
Opportunities then present themselves that we may have otherwise missed! Opportunities to feed our souls; broaden our understanding of being human; and increase our empathy for others. It doesn’t have to be monumental, rather small steps initially. Trying something a little different that challenges our perceptions and comfort is a good thing.
I have faced considerable adversity in my life. Rather than withdraw into my shell ( and I do have one), I decided early on that I needed to choose my attitude. I could go along with all the expectations set for me or I could challenge them and myself.
I choose to be optimistic. I choose to be a lifelong learner. I choose to overcome obstacles placed in my way. Sometimes I take a misstep and get knocked down, but I get back up again and have another go.
I have a mantra which I approach life with- I will try anything once (well almost anything), if I succeed, great. If I don’t, that’s ok, at least I tried. And, if I really want to achieve something, I will persist until I master it. I choose my attitude!
So get out there, try something you’ve always dreamed of doing. Pick up a pencil, a paintbrush or whatever excites something inside of you! It’s not about what other people think. It’s about feeding your soul and embracing yourself for who you are or would like to be.
Choose your attitude! If you would like to try something new, pop over to my website where I have most of my workshops listed. I’m happy to have a chat! 😀
